As a big fan of The Walking Dead and I was drawn to this story of a badassery. Jax Mercury is a legend in post apocalyptic LA. He’s of the strong and silent type but peel back the layers and he’s quite the sensitive gent. And he’s the perfect match for Lynne Harmony’s sentient and smart heroine of sorts. She’s also carrying around a little something that is as explosive as it is secret.
Action packed and thrilling to the max. Mercury Striking is a quintessential thriller, with continuous motion, compelling yet dangerous characters, suspenseful situations all wrapped up in the sexual tension of the main characters.
I knew I was in for a good read when the story opens right in the middle of the action. It is tense and compelling, and while we don’t get a front load of character exposition I felt connected to Lynne and Jax. We find out more about them as the story unfolds, exactly as it should be when providing character background. The wind up to the big climax is reliable action fodder and while there are some nice plot twists it isn’t unforeseeable and the cliffhanger could use a bit more suspense. Nevertheless, I was totally enthralled and can’t wait to find out more about The Scorpious Syndrome.
